Ohh November was a rammed one. Still in recovery.

Still busy don’t you worry I have new work at print paradiso, No 3 gallery and sixteen gallery not to mention the day job which isn’t slowing down yet.

On a festive whim I decide to add a slither of gold on to some screen prints.

Wonderful preview night at my first showing at Woolwich international print fair what an honour to be selected and with such amazing talent and peers I look up to ✨✨✨

sadly had to leave to get my train back just when it was getting rammed.

So inspiring and filled my cup full with art 🖼️ yesterday

👋 thought I would do an intro post. My name is Lea (Lea minus the H which causes a LIFETIME of confusion and that's not even my full name :-D)
I’m a Bristol-based screen printer/artist and by day, I work as a graphic designer. My printing and painting is a creative outlet to step away from computers and reconnect with making and using my hands.

My work is all about colour and shape - I believe colour is linked to emotion, and I want my prints to radiate joy. I’m fascinated by simple shapes and geometry, one shape repeated can produce endless possibilities for patterns and colours.

I lost my Dad in a tragic accident just after graduating in Pattern Design at a pivotal time in my life years ago meaning I have had a very wiggly higgidy (is this a word) route back from dark times to calm content times and creating. Maybe that’s why my work now feels so bursting with colour... it’s a celebration of light, hope, life and colour.

Many of my ideas spring from my walks and runs in the local woods with our cockerpoo.... movement seems to spark creativity and keeps momentum :D so I will keep running ha.

I’m so excited to be showing at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair next month. November is already shaping up to be a busy one — a group show coming up, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, and new work heading to No. 3 gallery in Clevedon at the end of the month.

Printing time has taken a tiny back seat this last week..... a lot going on this end!! If I miss a week evening print I loose a tiny bit of momentum but I will be keen to get back to it. Next up WOOLWICH.

✨ I’m beyond delighted that my work has been selected for this year’s Woolwich International Contemporary Print Fair! ✨

Momentum has been key for me this year! I only have a very tiny window each week to physically screen print at the wonderful Spike Print Studio (I work full-time over 4 days as a graphic designer) so I make sure I show up, get prepared, and take small steps — each week building on the last.

Taking note on colour and shape experiments .. do they spark something or not? One experiment leads to the next idea and dead ends leads to other ideas. Artwork is constantly shifting and evolving.

I rarely know exactly where I'm headed — so it's always a magic bonus when the work connects with others too. 💛

Started the day feeling a tad sluggish 🐌 but laced up and headed for an early run to shake things up.

50! Im ready for you ✨

49 is over and it’s been a little pressing at times…. Being the age your Dad suddenly died as a now adult and parent brings a whole new perspective to things.

Im the happiest, healthiest, fittest most creative and authentic version of me right now 🫶🏻

A few years have culminated to where I am now ✨ post pandemic working from home (no more background noise, chatters) just my thoughts, more quietness, daily walks, running, kids being older….no more numbing out, blocking, avoiding, partying hard, dismissing so I’ve let past wounds bubble on up and be digested at this later stage - with stillness has comes clarity 😊 I can see the twists turns and wrong way, hurdles and trauma I have had to overcome but how I am full circle back to where I should be ❤️ and through no trying am oddly living a parallel life to my dad at the same age (work at the dining room table, drive a silver fast car, daily dog walks, daily lunch run or bike ride)

I have spent the most glorious weekend with family, friends old and new who are all very dear to me laughing, dancing, living and I feel very very lucky and loved ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ life is short go grab it my loves ✨

Colour thought for today….

Had this one photographed by the lovely @johounsomephotography as neon is hard to photograph.

This made me ponder on how we all perceive colours slightly differently….add on to this how phone photos and the images on my computer screen are different again and don’t pick up the true colours 😆

I see why Pantones were invented !

Doing a little intro as it’s been a while ❤️ and I rarely show my face.

If you like colour and patterns this page is the place for you 😁. My current work is split between complex, constructed digital patterns/paintings or looser freestyle patterns created by screen printing shapes in layers/colours and following the sparks of ideas to produce one off unique prints.

I work as a Graphic designer for a company who I have been with for over 10 years - their corporate colour is Pantone 2617c = PURPLE so this is why you will never see purple ever in my print work!!! Outside of my day job and client guidelines as a constant creative strand for me is my side business as a printer and painter.

I studied Surface Pattern/Textile Design at the University of East London (before East London was cool btw) which I loved but just after graduating and when life was getting pretty exciting tragically my Dad died in an accident on holiday I was only 24 so my creative career was firmly halted for a good few years and derailed – in fact I didn’t create for a few years :-( Trying to get back into London life after my life had been turned upside down didn’t work for me so I moved away from my large circle of best friends and clubbing life to started afresh and for a calmer life in Bristol where I still am now 20 years later 😄. Kick starting my creativity again I started creating screen printed greeting cards - my first range went crazy got nominated for the prestigious Henries awards. I have also worked as a fashion fabrics designer, created baby and kid clothing and wedding stationery but here I am coming back full circle to my first love of patterns and painting and it feels absolutely perfect. Facts:

*My name causes an eternity of confusion it is Leah without the H my full name is LXXXXXXA – any guesses???
*I am left handed 🙂
*I get very cranky if I haven’t had a walk or run outside EVERY day
*I am a crisp super fan
*I am 50 VERY soon so I am cherishing being 49 as my dad died at 49
* I have odd psychic powers/love synchronicity

Doing a little intro as it’s been a while ❤️ and I rarely show my face.

If you like colour and patterns this page is the place for you 😁. My current work is split between complex, constructed digital patterns/paintings or looser freestyle patterns created by screen printing shapes in layers/colours and following the sparks of ideas to produce one off unique prints.

I work as a Graphic designer for a company who I have been with for over 10 years - their corporate colour is Pantone 2617c = PURPLE so this is why you will never see purple ever in my print work!!! Outside of my day job and client guidelines as a constant creative strand for me is my side business as a printer and painter.

Keeping it simple but ending up complex with endless combos 😊

Seem to be going for neon totem pole vibes at the moment but I want to go BIG after these experiments. Testing out a speedball pink ink for a change … very yummy pink @speedballprinting
