Spike island studios are open this weekend ✨ Come and have a nosey and a browse at the maze of art studios.

Spike print studios are pretty important to me I left London a sorry state over 20 years ago, uncreative, a couple of years fresh out of uni, still grieving and spike print was like a hinge opening to my new fresh start in Bristol and creative life ✨

I had a family in the middle, have tried other studios over the years but joined again as a member again and loving it 🙌🏻

Come and see the mini print show and there will be live demos and workshops over the weekend 😁✨🥰

50! Im ready for you ✨

49 is over and it’s been a little pressing at times…. Being the age your Dad suddenly died as a now adult and parent brings a whole new perspective to things.

Im the happiest, healthiest, fittest most creative and authentic version of me right now 🫶🏻

A few years have culminated to where I am now ✨ post pandemic working from home (no more background noise, chatters) just my thoughts, more quietness, daily walks, running, kids being older….no more numbing out, blocking, avoiding, partying hard, dismissing so I’ve let past wounds bubble on up and be digested at this later stage - with stillness has comes clarity 😊 I can see the twists turns and wrong way, hurdles and trauma I have had to overcome but how I am full circle back to where I should be ❤️ and through no trying am oddly living a parallel life to my dad at the same age (work at the dining room table, drive a silver fast car, daily dog walks, daily lunch run or bike ride)

I have spent the most glorious weekend with family, friends old and new who are all very dear to me laughing, dancing, living and I feel very very lucky and loved ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ life is short go grab it my loves ✨

Had this one photographed by the lovely @johounsomephotography as neon is hard to photograph.

This made me ponder on how we all perceive colours slightly differently….add on to this how phone photos and the images on my computer screen are different again and don’t pick up the true colours 😆

I see why Pantones were invented !

Doing a little intro as it’s been a while ❤️ and I rarely show my face.

If you like colour and patterns this page is the place for you 😁. My current work is split between complex, constructed digital patterns/paintings or looser freestyle patterns created by screen printing shapes in layers/colours and following the sparks of ideas to produce one off unique prints.

I work as a Graphic designer for a company who I have been with for over 10 years - their corporate colour is Pantone 2617c = PURPLE so this is why you will never see purple ever in my print work!!! Outside of my day job and client guidelines as a constant creative strand for me is my side business as a printer and painter.

I studied Surface Pattern/Textile Design at the University of East London (before East London was cool btw) which I loved but just after graduating and when life was getting pretty exciting tragically my Dad died in an accident on holiday I was only 24 so my creative career was firmly halted for a good few years and derailed – in fact I didn’t create for a few years :-( Trying to get back into London life after my life had been turned upside down didn’t work for me so I moved away from my large circle of best friends and clubbing life to started afresh and for a calmer life in Bristol where I still am now 20 years later 😄. Kick starting my creativity again I started creating screen printed greeting cards - my first range went crazy got nominated for the prestigious Henries awards. I have also worked as a fashion fabrics designer, created baby and kid clothing and wedding stationery but here I am coming back full circle to my first love of patterns and painting and it feels absolutely perfect. Facts:

*My name causes an eternity of confusion it is Leah without the H my full name is LXXXXXXA – any guesses???
*I am left handed 🙂
*I get very cranky if I haven’t had a walk or run outside EVERY day
*I am a crisp super fan
*I am 50 VERY soon so I am cherishing being 49 as my dad died at 49
* I have odd psychic powers/love synchronicity

That’s me with my daughter and step daughter :-)
When I’m not working or on mum duties im outside walking the dog or running ❤️ XXXX

In February I decided to merge my full time day job hours over 4 days so I had ONE whole day to print and paint (still not as much printing time happening as I would like) but since February I have had my work shown in an exhibition at the Malago Bristol, Derby print open, Spike print open, taken part in Upfest graffiti festival and Frome Market and will be taking part in South Bristol Arts Trail and Totterdown Arts Trail. Amazing what this one little day can free me up to do 🤩

Getting the print paint groove on again after upfest craziness 🤩 colour dopamine hit for today ❤️

Getting the print paint groove on again after upfest craziness 🤩 colour dopamine hit for today ❤️

Just about recovered from the crazy that was Upfest 2024… @upfest my first live paint among such amazing talent was daunting but exciting ❤️

I painted non stop for 8 hours, panicked the first 4 … would I get it done. Treated myself to a shandy at the last hour.

*The plan went out the window I freestyled
*Some paints didn’t work on wood
* The board was pretty textured not good for my hard lines
* But I did it 🤩 and learnt so much, met someone wonderful people and would do again in a flash

Special shout out to my Insta art Ángels 😇@kateelkington_art and @nancyandbelle for all their tips also to @emotionalwaterfallart and @zoepowpower for on the day advice. and my constant suppprters @sianabanana @donnabacktherapies @plews76 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ means a lot to me when my biggest fan would have been my dad but he lives on in my lines 🤩

Hooray made it to the studio for a few hours !
First time in weeks as hubby has been working abroad every week for last few months….. this is great as I can watch mafs and trash Telly ❤️ but not great as I can’t get to the studio or gym 😆

Love how my painting and printing is very separate but they seem to link together in colour !

Hooray made it to the studio for a few hours !
First time in weeks as hubby has been working abroad every week for last few months….. this is great as I can watch mafs and trash Telly ❤️ but not great as I can’t get to the studio or gym 😆

Love how my painting and printing is very separate but they seem to link together in colour !

On Friday I got to the end of a painting and then made mistakes ! Disaster so had to start again 🤦🏻‍♀️ motto …. don’t paint when your juggling too much at once I need a tiny bit of zen it seems
LOVE how the neon transforms the pale yellow to a mustard…. Totally changed the colours next to it.
