The Story

Lea is a designer and screen printer known for her bold, colourful, and geometric designs that radiate energy and personality. Her work strikes a balance between meticulously crafted geometric hard-edge paintings and digital compositions, alongside a more intuitive approach to screen printing—where she explores the interplay of colour, shape, and layers to create vibrant, pattern-based artwork.

By day, Lea works as a Graphic Designer, skilfully navigating client brand guidelines. However, her true passion lies beyond the digital realm—experimenting freely with patterns and embracing the tactile joy of the printing process. For Lea, using her hands in screen printing or painting is a grounding contrast to her computer-based day job, allowing her creativity to flow in a more instinctive, experimental and dynamic way.

Her hard-edge paintings are a reflection of both her creative vision and personal journey. The interplay between vivid, structured lines and empty spaces serves as a metaphor —marked by the profound loss after graduating of losing her father suddenly years ago but living a colourful full life today. Her fascination with clean, sharp lines is a tribute to her father, whose career as an architect continues to influence her work.

With over 20 years of experience in screen printing, Lea’s creative journey has taken her through roles as a fabric designer, greeting card designer, and contributor to the baby and children’s clothing industry. Yet, her path has led her back to her first love—crafting patterns that seamlessly blend precision with spontaneity, bringing joy, energy and a hit of colour.

Bright, bold colours such as red, yellow and orange are known to be particularly effective at stimulating dopamine release. These colours can help to boost our mood and motivation.
